This is a better temp. 200 will melt the plastic.

That said the rice is usually the best option. The sooner it's put in the better.

Well, sorry to have given bad advice, but that was what worked for me. I didn’t search first, but I don’t see this having been brought up before – so, I suppose it at least brought up the topic and a better solution. I would have tried it myself. I was a little bummed my gps might have permanent water damage.

I got my Tom Tom with lifetime maps and traffic for less than $100 btw – not waterproof, but not over $500 either and it works pretty well (just not in the rain, but I don’t ride in the rain generally).

A fresh, unwrinkled zip-lock sandwich bag is perfect for my large display; hardly know it's there.

Know those little packets of "stuff" that come in in the box with shoes and boots, electronics and other things when they are new??? Ya know the packet that says "do no eat" on it.... that's silca beads- and they are excellent at absorbing moisture....so save them in a plastic baggie and stick your damp electronic gizmo in the bag with a bunch of those packets- even better than rice when it comes to drying out things, but not so good with chicken.

I stick the packets in all of my camera and lens bags too.

The best thing you can do with electronic devices (GPS, cellphone, etc) that get wet is, remove the battery and place the device in a sealed zip-lock baggie filled with rice, and leave it there for 2 days. The rice will absorb the moisture.
We got this advice a couple years ago and it worked great for my wifes cell phone that dropped in the sink.
