Poseur. You should never, never, wear a Harley tee shirt from a dealership that you did not ride your Harley to.
That was my goal when I bought my Harley. But people like to buy them for gifts. And if I am travelling by airplane somewhere and see a nice shirt, made in USA, I am buying it. And if people don't like it, they can lump it.
We collect shirts to places we have ridden to, just kind of a momento from a ride. Other folks may do differently. That's ok. Rally T shirts I guess folks usually assume you rode there. I guess I usually do too. I thought your statement that your bike is an 08 and you have 21k miles so you ride was interesting. That would be about 5k a year which may be good for your circumstances and may be the average for HD riders but is only 400 miles a month year round. Not alot on the face of it. Perhaps the old dude rode more than that, I have no idea. I guess I read your tone as defensive, maybe I read it wrong, if so, I apologize. But in the end, does his comments and his opinion really matter? Does Mine? Does Yours? Not really. If you are happy buying T shirts while on vacation then go for it. If you ride 10 miles a year and it makes you happpy, go for it. Just stand proud, ride and enjoy it. Don't worry about the lables.
My boss went to England for the Queens celebration and picked up a t-shirt from one of the events there as a gift for me, hope nobody will think I'm the Queen of England if I ware it.
Have tons of tees from all over the world...some Harley...sorta a collection I guess. I ware them all the time and no one has ever said anything funny or bad about them except at my HD dealer. Never bought their's because I live in the next town.
Unless it's a really long ride that I probably won't do again, I don't buy a shirt. I didn't wear HD shirts before I got my bike and changing my wardrobe now would seem kind of silly to me.
I own one HD shirt. If someone gave me shirts, I would wear them, but I don't spend $25 on T-shirts generally. Most of the ones I wear were freebies.
I'm gonna start a T-shirt company with things like : very small letters- I don't own a
-HARLEY DAVIDSON !! Or- I've never been to -STURGIS !! And Pins: i rode far less than - 100,000 MILES !!
