Brillo pads?

It's hard to see the engine. If it's black, spray liberally with S-100 engine cleaner and it will blacken. Is that rust on the fin edges though?

i'm sure what he's talking about is the 'gleam' on the machined fin edges that has dulled over time, and how to bring it back. i'd be interested in how someone does it as well, the bright finish on my 2007 did the same thing, good thing i traded the bike in but now with the 2010, don't think that bike is going somewhere any time soon, so if this should happen, i'd like to know as well.....

It's just bare aluminum on the outside of the fins, polish with something or use some fine sandpaper.

I use 0000 steel wool soaked with auto polish. Takes time but looks like chrome when done.

The fins are aluminum and will polish up great. I do it each winter.
