I've ridden shovelheads since 1979 - I know them top to bottom. I sold my shovel about 3 years ago and I'm considering picking up a crashed 2000 night train.
It needs some sheet metal and a few other things. It's carburated.
Will any part that fits a Softail work on the NIght Train? Can I mount fat bobs on it?
What is the differance in fuel tanks on carburated versus fuel injection.
I had a 2000 Night Train. I wish I still did. To your question, most parts off any softail, except for the Deuce, will fit on the NT. The fuel injected NT has a fuel pump inside the top portion of the tank. The carbureted does not. I believe there is a conversion kit to adapt a FJ tank onto a carbureted model. The carb version is a gravity/ vacuum feed and the FJ version is not obviously. You may need to change out the petcock too. I'm not totally sure on that topic. The carb petcock has three positions, prime, off, run. I don;t know what the FJ petcock looks like.
I had a carbed version and would not hesitate one second in buying another.
Thanks for the info... what might be a good source for sheet metal and a front rim? I'm not looking to change the scooter much, might use it to step up to a crusier - not sure but it looks like a great scooter..
Rode the shovel pulling a trailer up and down and accross north america in 2000 - 2002. Time to get back on.
