I only take my bike to the dealership for service. I used an indy shop for my sportster and had some **** poor work done there which turned me off of indy shops forever. I feel like the dealership is more trustworthy and therefore worth the extra money.

They're faster too. The indy shop here wants to hold your bike hostage for 2 weeks just to have tires put on. I took mine into the dealership and they did the tires in a few hours while I waited. They even had a big sign in the service department that said "wondering what to do while you wait for service? Why not take a test ride"

Sun Harley and Mile High Harley in Denver. Had good experiences in both places. Yes prices are high...it's HD, but not ridiculously so.

Of course certain people ARE VIRTUALLY FORCED to go to the dealer. I wonder how you could forget about these people. They stick out like a sore thumb.

No one forced them to go to the dealer? I agree with you there. No one person forced them to go to the dealer. Nevertheless, they were virtually forced to go to the dealer. Huh, what? Look it wasn't a person that forced them, it was a certain circumstance. And that circumstance would be imposed on riders who rent an apartment. Apartment dwellers usually don't have a dedicated garage in the good old U.S. Also, many rental contracts state that wreching on cars and bikes in a parking stall IS FORBIDDEN. That means many renters are virtually forced to go to the dealer or an indie.

JesusFC, with posts like the one quoted above, sometimes I feel like this board is predominated by narrow minded, ignorant, highly successful, well heeled people who own a house. And it probrably is. I bet, on this board, that those who own a house outnumber those who live in an apartment.

If the tone of this post compels an ignorant homeowner to hate me, they can take solace in knowing that the recent uptick in atmospheric temperature has caused a load of bugs to invade my apartment. Revenge is sweet and it's all yours because I am being overrun by bugs! They're everywhere I look. I just hope they don't crawl into my laptops USB port.

Hahaha jokes on you, unfortunately for you the bugs ain't roaches nor are they the dreaded earwig. They're ants. Ants ain't bad, I can tolerate ants. I can deal with the thought of checking my filthy toilet bowl to find a few crusty ants embedded in fecal matter hours after I eat dinner. Can't say the same about a cockroach or an earwig. If you want revenge you'll have to flame me with the hottest torch ya got.

Nobody has ever posted a single thing that proves any dealer stole a thing from anyone. Most don't like paying the price of buying a Harley or their products, so they refer to the dealers as stealers. Nobody twisted anybodys arm to get them to buy from the same dealers they call stealers. I believe a lot use the term simply to "fit in". Personally, all the dealers I've ever given a single penny to treated me as fairly as anyone could expect. None of those clowns that use the term probably never rented a commercial space, paid employees, taxes, or anything else related to running a shop with as many people working there as most dealers have. The dealers I know aren't exactly living high on the hog and most are putting in more hours than the average Joe to keep their business alive.

What a load of crap! Blah, blah, blah. Owning a Harley or any bike isn't mandatory. If you can't afford to own one, you have no business having one. Those same poor down trodden apartment dwellers you refer to don't have some mandatory edict that they have to have a bike. Forced to go to a dealer? BS! Who is it that's forcing them? Seems more than a little self imposed to me if that's your situation. Grow up, take responsibility, set priorities, and then quit your bitchin about decisions you made and the situation you're in because of your choices.

Wasn't talkin about owning a bike was talkin about owning a house a block from the beach in San Diego duh. Red herrings, false accusations, dumb assumptions, wow. What a bundle. Guess you're one of those people. Fact is I, or any other renter, might have more net worth than you. Have a nice day.

LOL funny what some people will say and how they will use a simple post to argue about something that bothers them. But to the OP's point, I like my dealer. They always try to meet other prices I get and at least get close to the number. Only use dealer for things I am not comfortable to do myself, but the dealer has always done a good and quick job. Will continue to use them in the future

Business is business, very few people are in business as a hobby. They've got overheads and salaries to pay. Any business I have worked for is in it to make money. One way or another they sell whatever it is they produce, make, display or negotiate.

If you don't like the prices at Nordstroms then go shop at Macy's or Walmart or the Dollar Stores (or even Goodwill stores). The neighborhood you want a house in is too pricey? Go to a cheaper one.

Prices are governed by supply and demand. If the dealerships weren't selling 3 screws for $15 then they'd reduce them. Clearly they sell what's on their shelves and their bike inventory. Another dealership may have lower overheads and that's why they can afford to drop $ off MSRP, or maybe they choose to sell more at a reduced profit than the Dealership that won't drop prices.

You weren't talking about much of anything. Just a bunch of babble. Ants, earwigs, toilet bowls. Babble.

I was responding to this..."No one person forced them to go to the dealer. Nevertheless, they were virtually forced to go to the dealer. Huh, what? If they can't afford the cost of ownership given their circumstances. They can move, buy a house, sell the bike, whatever, but they are not forced by anything but their own decisions. Nobody made them live where they do. It was "imposed" on them by their own choices.

Go to Thundertower HD in Columbia SC if you want to be treated like family. Bought last two from them and nobody could touch their price. Tons of parts in stock and clothes too. Friendly folks. They don't beat around the bush, they bring an outstanding deal to start with. Go see Sean or see him on the net. And no I don't work for them nor does my family, just a very satisfied customer.
