I am on my family vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC. I decided to ride the bike down, so my wife and I could ride while we had the grandparents to keep the kids. Upon arrival, I learned that the hotel where we are staying don't allow motorcycles, so I am not allowed to park it in the covered parking deck. After showing my *** (a couple of times) I had no choice but to park it in public parking. Yesterday it rained the biggest part of the day. I thought it would be no different than getting caught in a storm while riding. To my complete surprise, when I went out to ride this morning I noticed that my bike was RUSTED!!!!!!! I mean alot!!!!!! The entire front rotor, most of my bolt heads, the heads on my engine are showing corrosion, my black vance and hines short shots are showing corrosion!!! I am at a loss here guys! Had i known one day in the rain would cause so much damage, I would have figured something out. How do I get rid of all this rust??? Or can I?????
Wasn't the rain son it's the salt air that's screwing you . Get busy with some good cleaners & chrome polish and then you'll have to stay on top of it regular from now on . Once it starts you can stall it but never stop it .
When I had a bike in the Key,s it was a constant battle to keep it from rusting and I am not a bike cleaning fanatic by any means..It,s going to take a lot of polish and elbow grease like Twisted said..

Sometimes I feel like a lazy dumb sombetch because of the rust on my spokes and a few other places....then I read replies from these two men and I realize I am no different from anyone else...

Thank you Twizted, and Capt. Itch....
Got my introductions to salt air and bikes spending 3 days camping on the beach in Corpus Christi during spring break when I was down there chasing drunk naked coed's back in late 70's . Got back to KC and my bike was a rust bucket , was a pissed off SOB over it .
OP you want the best to fight it go to a boat shop and use what they recommend , think about it .
