The Wide glide may be more than the super glide, but buy the forward controls, Handle bars, and all the chrome and tell me what it cost. Chrome is expensive as hell to put on a scooter after you buy it. Chrome sure looks good to me. But some guys like a total black bike.By the time you buy a used bike and git it financed you can make the payment on a new bike with the 96cu motor and the 6 speed with a 2 yr warranty too.. Everybody with the 88cu wants to bring them up to a 95cu that I talk to. the rubber mount motor is a fine engine on the wide glide too. I've got over 4000 on my 07fxwg and haven't had the 1st problem and I run the homemade hell of of it too. The Wide Glide is a riding bike.It has to be the best scooter I've rode since 1964. But like everybody said. Go Rent one of each and ride them for a Day. Check the ground clearance out too. What I see, feel and hear, might not be the same as you. Only you can make the decesion. But all in all a Wide glide is a hard bike to beat.
Look at what you want on the bike also, wheels. new seat, switchblade foot pegs and have them put on when you buy the scooter. You will save money.
But bottom line, I'm glad they make so many choices for us so we can chose what is best for our sizes, styleand pocket books. But this is just my 2 cents worth too. My eyes see different from yers.
Take your time and explore the possibilities with each bike. It took me 4 months of riding everything from new sportys to the the ultras. I was wanting a Road King ( cause the wife likes them, for the road trips)... But once I rode the Deuce and enjoyed the ride, it was mine. The Deuce is a wonderful machine and definitely sets you apart. There is no need to go and chrome this, add this, etc. Its already done. If you look at past years of the Deuce from 2000 on the Deuce MSRP's are high, right up up there with the UC. I have had mine for only about a month and I have had many riders ask me...What model of Harley is THAT? All you have to say is "Deuce". And that comes from Harley riders. Yes there arent many for sale, most dealers dont even have them on hand. My Dealer has approx. 150 bikes and only 2 Deuces. Yes its true that there isnt a 500 page catalog of parts for this bike. Ok, I am off my soapbox now. As for riding it is all about what you like and enjoy. Everyone has their likes and disklikes (Chevys vs. Ford vs. Dodge) Once you come to a decision the people in these forums will Help regardless of what you decide. By the way, I bought a 2001 Deuce with 4000miles from a dealer for $9500 and have already been offered $15000 for it!! Now thats what I call an investment. Good Luck

A salesman at my local shop told me that "on average, the wide glides that they get in on trade have more miles per year than most". I really like mine. I havent spent enough time on a softail to coment on them, but softail owners that have ridden my bike like the feel of it.
Dude, it's not the frame that determines completely how much room a bike has. The frames on the Bob and the WG may be the same but the WG SEAT is two inches higher and the bars and rake are different.
What I was trying to say Jimbo is that not only is Craig trying to convince that the Dyna is better, he's all up in "and the Bob is just as good if not better than the WG". He thinks the best bike is the Bob for everyone because it was the best bike for him.
I never said the Wide Glide was a poor choice or that it was not worth the extra money. I said that forward controls and forward controls only were the wrong reason to spend the extra $4400 for one if what you wanted was a Super Glide or any other bike for that matter. Actually, I love the Wide Glide as it was the first bike that grabbed me. I also never even mentioned the friggin' Street Bob. I thought we were talking about the Super Glide???

I'm reading what you're typing Craig. You're dense man..
You're reading a whole lot more into it than what I'm trying to say. Putting words in my mouth would be an extreme understatement.
I'm the last person that would want everybody to choose what I did. I REALLY don't like having what everybody else has. I'd prefer to just give them what information I have, voice some opinions and let them make their own decision, as it should be.My bottom line is always to rent one of every bike you're interested in and make your own decision. You will know which one calls to you.
I suppose you were just sitting there waiting to be offended by someone who did not make the same choice as you.
Get the Dyna. Touring style frame and suspension, and the price on a low mileage used one is nice. A warning about the deuce, around here, a deuce is like herpes, once you get one, you better love it, 'cause you aint gettin' rid of it. That is one of the coldest bikes around my part of the world. They are just too much of nothing special. I mean, it's a soft tail, that looks like a dyna. Why would you want that goofy ride, on something that looks like a Dyna?
