Helmet ticket correctable??

Best advice i can give you is to go to court see the judge and he will reduce it to $50 bucks. I ride in Los Angeles every day and use a non DOT helmet never been pulled over for that but my friends have and said to the judge always lowers it to that amount if you bring in your DOT approved one to court. I have been ticketed for tinted windshield on my 2011 Street Glide, windshield is stock tint and 4 inches high. LOL officer at the CHP laughed when i went in to get it signed off.

In California, only the CHP have been restricted in their efforts to issue tickets for non-dot helmets. Based on the efforts of the late Richard Quigley, the CHP issued a memorandum to not enforce the current helmet law on the books. However, this does not pertain to local police & sheriff jurisdictions.
I would definitely go to court and fight the ticket, though!

I guess I'd get in touch with the officer who wrote the ticket and ask for an explanation.

Informed bikers standing up for their rights is not a waste of my time! I found the video interesting and informative. Notice that even with the threat of jail, nothing happened more than a citation for each biker. And, they may just beat the ticket!

DOT approved helmets have the DOT etched into the outside of the shell on the back by the manufacturer. This is part of the DOT standard. If it just has an adhesive sticker it is not a real DOT helmet.
