I was wondering if a 11.5" progressive 440 standard series shock would give me any troubles on an 05 electra glide that has extended bags. I would be going from the stock 13" height down to the 11.5" progressive shock, any feedback or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
It just doesnt seem like there would be a clearance issue with the bags draggin in turns or cornering....The front is stock and I was planning on keeping it that way...Not 100% sure though........
Any thought to going to a Progressive 940/944 shock? It would have a squat height of 12" though a 13" shock, and you would only be .5" different, and likely a better ride.
My 1989 FLHS is basically a precursor to the RoadKing.
I'm short, 5'6", and I could flat foot with the stock set-up, but just barely. With almost 54k on the bike I opted for some handling and suspension mods this year which included Progressive 416's (Air ride shocks), new Progressive spring in the forks, and a rebuilt airline system.
Rear shocks are 1/2" lower than stock, front fork was 1" lower. Much easier flat footing with no obvious handling differences and a much better functioning shock system. No more bottoming, and wobbling.
