Take the NPS tour of the Minuteman missile control center and silo. Then go the the air museum at Ellsworth AFB, where they take you down into an real silo. Then get the maps, and ride around the boonies looking for where the silos where before they imploded them.

If you haven't been to the Crazy Horse Monument I highly recommend a trip there. It's not far from Hill City and in my opinion puts Rushmore to shame, even though it's not finished yet.
If you go the best time is before sunset. That way you can see it in the daylight and hang around for the display they put on after the sun goes down. It's really awesome.
