Losing interest ??
Might be the quit too. Cig withdrawals can make people weird. No matter what happens I'll let the group know if I am totally going to bail. The weirdest thing is trying to imagine who I'd be without the bike. Who knows? Maybe I am turning RUB. I guessthat means I need to spend more time polishing than riding. There's a dunkin donuts 2 blocks away. I could ride down there, park it and drink some coffee. .
Wow. I'm rambling...

I also have to agree that maybe the long riding season and lack of exciting, new roads to ride are having an effect. Maybe you need to take a vacation on the bike and get into some hill country. And, you're right, quitting nicotine makes you feel like crap for a while. You'll get throught that too. Hang in there. Good luck.
well, i agree that quitting smoking may be having an effect on your outlook. its a chemical thing. give it about a month or two to get out of your system, i mean after quitting any nicotine supplements if you are taking those. its not a trivial thing, i know.
that aside, i offer some contrary advice. most people suggest taking a break from riding, which may be a good idea, but from personal experience, i offer the opposite:
ride the bike as your primary vehicle. not to insult people (really), but i sort of get the impression that lots of folks spend most of their time in their pickup trucks, and the bike is sort of a weekend toy. they polish it up, take it for a putt somewhere, aimlessly, or to a motorcycle event where there isnt much riding, then return home an clean the bike again. that can be fun too, but it does get old.
instead of taking a break from the bike, take a break from any other vehicle you own. ride the bike to the market, on dates, to work, to dinner at restaurants, to visit friends. make it your primary vehicle. for me, i find that the more i ride, the more i bond with my bike and the more i cant imagine not riding. makes cars seem unwieldy, ponderous, and slow.
this advice wont apply if you are already doing that, of course, in which case take a break like everyone else suggests. however, if you drove to work this morning in your SUV, then give what im suggesting a try.
