I tend not to go cheep, just have not had leather in years, Aerostitch and Cycloak. And yes, some of it is a little like a NASCAR outfit.

Do you have a link to the jacket you are looking at?

Brooks leather jackets are made for riders. With your arms at your sides, the sleeves will go half way down your hands. On the handlebars, it's perfect. Have had mine for 25 years.

nice looking jacket you are looking at there

my experience has been a positive one over the last year with the HD jackets

I bought two really nice ones on clearance from my local dealership

one was a $445 retail that I got for $112 because my size 3XL is not popular I guess, the other I got 2XL with a reflective design on the back was also on a major clearance and I got a $395 retail for $94

look on the clearance racks at your dealer during the summer, you can find gems there.

this is the one I got for $112

and this one for $94

Like others said, look at Fox Creek. Much heavier leather and very durable without logos, etc.

I have a similar jacket to the one you posted, midweight leather, really like it, great fit, very comfortable. I'm satisfied with my purchase.

And I did have a Fox Creek jacket and it is outstanding quality. However, it just didn't fit me right and I found myself not wearing it, eventually sold it.

The best protection is the one you will wear.

Exactly. The leather seems too soft. If you're anywhere near Fall River, MA, I reccommend checking out Vanson Leathers. Great American made MC leathers of all different types and styles. You can buy them online, but sizing can be a problem. They are pricey, though. A full price Vanson CHP style jacket can cost $750.

You need to get some of this stuff and use it:

I personally sorta like the brown coming in sometimes; makes it look like you are using it, but the oil makes it black again and is supposed to kill off fungus or whatever (the pine pitch er whatever it is).

Some people use the Doc Bailey's: https://www.leatherclear.com/cgi-bin/store/pid_01.htm
