Use a single edge razor blade to scrape off the melted plastic. Go carefully and you wont scratch the chrome. Then use a good polish to clean the remainder off.

I had Frog Togs a few years ago, and the same thing happened to me. EZ Off oven cleaner (when pipes are cold) and I was able to get everything else off with a fingernail.

If you plain on buying Harley rain gear make sure it is made of gore-tex are something similar that will breath. If you get one that is made of vinyl you will sweat so much you will be as wet with perspiration as you would just getting wet from the rain. Riding all day during the summer wearing a vinyl rain suit is torture.

Why not just throw on a garbage bag or a poncho over your regular riding gear? No way that crap breathes, so you will just sweat and get wet that way.

I have never understood why someone would spend anywhere from 10-30k on a bike and won't drop a few benjamins on some nice rain gear.

I also go on a few fishing trips a year and it serves it's purpose well on the lake also.

and i have never understood this argument. you spent x on a bike, you should spend $600 for a helmet, $300 on a jack, $200 on rain gear, etc. maybe, just maybe, after spending x on a bike, we don't have that much discretionary income left? maybe i don't want a $600 helmet, or a $200 rain suit. hell, in the summer, i don't even wear rain gear. getting caught in the rain can be a blessing sometimes.

If you buy a bike and can't afford gear, you couldn't afford the bike either. I never posed a $$ figure, just don't understand some dude on a CVO wearing Frogg Toggs (not referencing OP) and then complaining the **** melted on his pipes (no ****?).

To get the melt off your pipe...use cold style oven cleaner...a rag so you don't scratch the chrome....maybe a scrub pad lightly for stubborn spots.

Put the $6 heat shield or iron board material on Frogg Toggs and it's fine rain gear.

There are always decent alternatives that don't have to cost a fortune. Not everyone has a CVO. Plus there are many that save up for a long time to buy their bikes. Just because someone owns a Harley doesn't mean they have an unlimited supply of disposable cash.

Now, I don't agree with those that finance their bikes with obscene interest rates, put all the accessories on a card going into debt. They are the ones that can't really afford the bike. Or the gear.

Then there are the ones that save up and pay cash for everything. They look for alternatives to the high priced HD branded stuff that do a good job for it's intended uses. I refuse to overpay for something when I can buy something cheaper.

Yes, sometimes you get what you pay for. Like tools. I use Craftsman tools because they have a good cost/performance ratio. But Frogg Toggs raingear ain't cheap like what someone may find at Wally World. It's good quality for a fair price. If you melt the gear it's the user's fault. Not Frogg Toggs'
