Well I have darn near warn it out and I will double what I got out of a stock Dunflop and while looking for the wear bar I noticed my chicken strip was wider. Which makes me wonder if the crown of the tire is less than all the other tires ive run. No info on the actual crown of the tire. This might have something to do with the longevity of the tire along with the compound and the inter weaving of aramid fibers in the belting. Any takers?
it nice when U put in enough info for us to relate.
.
I didnt include the milage because it is very subjective with the 200mm tire but if you must know a stock dunlop last right at 5k, a ME880 lasts 4700, a roadsmart lasts 6500, a night dragon lasts 7k, and the com II lasted 9k so far and I bet I get 1k more so double what the stock lasted. So far the best in the rain also. Bike has 110,483 on it so ive gone through a few tires. Your results may very.
Boy, you know I read every one of these tire wear threads, and find myself wondering should I convert to Michelin's or not? I've been riding since Goodyears were the stock tires for Harleys.
I just replaced the rear tire on my Ultra two days ago. It had 2/32" of tread left which I call my worn out reading. Also, it seems that the handling of the rear tire suddenly feels like the edges are squared off.
Now I admit I'm a pretty laid back rider. Always have been, though I do love to push it a little on mountain curves. My starts and stops are usually gentle, and I use both brakes routinely.
The tire I just took off had 14, 282 miles on it. It is a stock Dunlop. The bike handles like a dream as it should with new rubber. Just my 2 cents worth.
