What do you do on week long road trips? Do you avoid them in case it might rain?

I wondered about the Harley suits. They have some on the rack with a lot of reflective orange or yellow but I wasn't sure how functional it would be. Maybe I'm skeptical but I suspected at least some items might be more a showcase for the logo than a functional item. I'm glad to know the rain suits are good and may go with the reflective one.

I followed a link to some gloves on the Aerostitch site and then clicked on suits and found that most jacket and pants pairs added up to about $1k total. Too rich for my wallet.

We have the older (gray) style H-D rain gear.
As I remember, these suits were well under $200 each and they work well but they are not 100% waterproof.
We've been caught in some hard storms and stayed fairly dry, and we also have gators for our boots and rain covers for our gloves.
After the last trip (and storm) I swore that I'd never ride in such severe weather again, especially for long periods of time.
I'm not talking about a drizzle or even a fast, hard shower, but a prolonged downpour.
When visibility (your's and other drivers) becomes a factor, it's time to head for a safer location.

Arrow I'm happy with mine

I've had several rainsuits over the years. I bought a Tourmaster Defender II and its the best of all of them. I paid around $ 90.00 for it. Coming home from Sturgis I logged about 250 miles in the rain. Only my tennis shoes/feet got wet. (My boots I took off when they got wet, they felt like about 20 lbs each.)

So, I'm looking for a set of boot covers for the rain. Any recommendations? I've tried waterproof boots and been disappointed in their cost and performance.

Gotta say I never even considered a $1000 rain suit...

Momma and I have HD Hi Vis suits and we love them. About $250 a piece and worth every dollar.

Just rode through the rain again last week. Pouring hard, at times it was hard to see. The only parts of me that got wet were my face (I wear a half helmet) and my hands (fingerless gloves).

Like I said worth every penny.
+1, that's what I got and I like it.

Barring extreme emergency situations I wouldn't intentionally head off into a prolonged ride in the rain. My rider course this Thu-Sun is rain or shine and with my luck that will mean the end of the drought in those several hours so I want something available to be sure I'm not soaked. I'm going to look into the Tourmaster online and depending on what I find may do that or may go with the Harley suit.

I've got one of the older rain suits from HD that bundled together in a pouch $100 bucks I think. Grey, black and orange with hi vis bar and sheild on it. I've used it in downpours that I could only see the white line at the edge of the road. Worked fine for me, some times depending, the threads in the crotch would seep. Haven't had to use it in a while though. FWIW

Easy. I don't take week long road trips. My rides are daily and take maybe three or four hours. It's the kind of riding I like...when it's not raining.
