My wife bought this for me for Father's day this year. Don't know that it would have been something I picked out myself but as it turns out, it's a good jacket and has a removable wind/water proof liner which is great for warm weather.
I think it is called 3 in 1. Bought it used from here in classifieds. i pretty much leave the lip off exterior off all summer and it is then a mesh jacket that holds the armor and is very comfortable. I see them now and then here in the gear part of classifieds and great jacket with everything you are looking for. nothing to say about all the others, might be the same stuff for less $$$?
Thanks for all the great responses. The Vanson Vent Max looks promising. I have an email in to them looking for measurements and if the "Tall" version is actually available (either it's not, or their website is buggy). It would be nice to try them on but their closest dealer is quite a distance away.
Might want to take a look at post #8 on this thread regarding the Vent Max before pulling the trigger on the purchase.
I bought a mesh Harley jacket when one of the local dealers was liquidating everything in a bankruptcy. Paid about $85 for it. It's got some light armor in it and the air really does flow through it very well.
That's what I bought, and I like it. It vents very well, so key word is "light". You can check them out and size them at the HD Dealer, find a better price online...
"HD Ride Ready Mesh Jacket"
Unless it's friggin cold outside, I wear a baggy jean jacket. If it's hot out, I put on a t-shirt underneath, which leaves plenty of room for the jacket to breath. If it's cold out, I put on a big sweater, which seals up the jacket. If it's really cold, I wear a heavy sweater and a lined leather bomber jacket.
I just bought a Joe Rocket Phoenix 5 jacket for summer riding and so far am really liking it. Great airflow, fits well, high quality, good features (pockets and velcro and take up straps where you want them), detachable/removable rain proof liner. I personally think all black has the sharpest look, but bought mine in hi viz yellow to reflect sun and heat better than the black.
Just picked this up past weekend. 'bout $110. Fits like a charm is very comfortable/warm and has zippers and pockets all over the place (including two full length ones down the back). Zip out lining too, so it will be good in warmer conditions.
I froze my *** riding to the store so I wore it home nice and toasty.
