We rode to Myrtle Beach last week and returned on Saturday. While approaching Spartanburg on I26, a group of bikers were blocking the road by riding in all lanes at 50 mph. Traffic was backed up pretty bad. After a few miles they moved over and let some of the traffic pass, then blocked it again. They were not "patched" riders but no one messed with them. I feel sure that some may have assumed that I was part of the problem. I just rode on patiently and awaited my chance to get back to 75 mph.
Forget the fact that it's just plain ignorant, but I'm more than pretty sure that that's illegal. Why didn't anyone do anything about it (legal or otherwise)?
I wouldn't call that bad publicity as that does not happen a lot and most people don't wittness it. Bad publicity is riding through the neighborhood at 2AM and blasting the exhuast. Everyone has witnessed that and gets treated to it almost daily in the summer. That is the number one reason many people loathe bikes and those who ride them.
There are sportbike riders here who ride the highway like that sometimes but they are usually doing stunts. When there are so many of them, the cops can't do much about it.
