Thanks all for the input. Good to get feedback from the family! I believe I'm just about sold on the heritage. Although I'm in love with my deuce, I know my wife will thank me for days to come once her backside hits the heritage! Riding is something we both enjoy and she told me that in a few years, I get the Harley of my choice and she'll take the heritage! Oh the sacrifices we make to keep our ladies happy!! Thanks again!
Well it sounds like you made up your mind. But, if it were me i would keep the Deuce. I love that bike. You could always get some throw over saddle bags and a detachable windshield for longer trips. and if the seat is an issue, get a mustang vintage wide solo with wide pillion. The mustang is very comfy.
I've recently tossed around the same questions. I absolutely love my Deuce, but it's not a great (or even a very good) ride for long trips, for me anyway (I'm sure others have differing opinions!) And even though my wife rides on the back around town she put her foot down about going on any trips with it. SO...I went to the dealer and talked quite a bit with the salesman about a new RGU. He finally said...Dont sell the Deuce. We'd LOVE to have it on our lot but you wouldn't be happy". This coming from a salesman!! He said..just RENT one when you're going on trips! (Which only happens a couple of times a year) And that's what we did. Rented a '12 RGU and spent five days on it at the lake of the Ozarks. Great bike on the road and wife was very happy (always a good thing). Took it back, and immediately got back on the Deuce for a ride around some back country roads. Best of both worlds I guess. AND I didn't have to spend 20K or so for a new bike. Just something to think about...rent a Heritage when your going on a trip. Maybe that's an option for you??
Go for the Heritage! It has the counterbalanced engine and is smooth as glass. I love mine, and if I want to, it's 10 seconds and the shield is off and the wind in my face. Another 5 minutes, and I am solo saddle with no backrest or saddlebags. Cool for around town and can go full touring if I want too. Go for the Heritage.

The Deuce is counterbalanced as well. I went from a 2000 Road King to a 2003 Deuce. I loved the Deuce but always found myself having friends that I rode with keeping my stuff in their saddlebags...... what a pain in the ***. Got another Road King and the last 3 bikes have been Ultras.
Well...I appreciate all the feedback. I made the trade - even swap no money exchanged. Even got a Stage 1 kit installed for 1/2 price !! My deuce had 18,000 miles on it and I stepped into the Heritage with 13,000 miles. Rode for an hour on the "new" bike and I'm very happy with my decision! Ride safe everyone!

For our riding needs the Heritage fits the bill perfect. Usually leave the shield and bags on, just like the looks that way and we do 75-100 mile rides, somedays even more, every day we can.
The bags is needed for her STUFF and I love the shield to help keep the bugs and other chit out of my face.
I change out to my solo seat when the wife doesn't ride, which is not very often.
