I''ve been on mids since 1966. You cant teach this old dog new tricks. I do like highway pegs. My son loves his forwards.

I have an 08 Nightster that I bought used that had highway pegs installed by the previous owner, and I went from riding a sport bike where I was constantly leaned over, and now i love just cruising, leaned back nice and comfy.

Never considered either-ejector seat or launching myself. Will have to contemplate that one!

Forwards or floorboards are my choice. Mids are only good on dirtbikes. When I had mids on my sporty, I felt like a monkey riding a tricycle. Yecch. With forwards or floorboards, I can still pick my butt up off the seat for railroad tracks and bumps.

Default Forward controls

I put Arlen Ness three inch extensions on my Night Train, and totally love them.

As far as "bailing out"....you guys may be thinking too much....if you have time to think about that option, you probably have time to do something better!

............GUN IT! lol

Are you sure they would have to be one off? It may not work on you Softail but on my Wideglide I picked up a set of mid mounts off ebay and they bolted right up to the stock mid position. Its nice to have an alternate position and works great. Its about the same as mids with highway pegs.

Disregard, just realized none of the softails have mids....................duh

I should clearify the bail-out bit...........I should of said , At impact and not as a ''jump off the pegs'' deal. What I was thinking is the ''prone '' position, (for lack of a better term),That a rider is in with forward controls.....lets face it if your hitting anything your gonna be moving while the bike is stopping. With that said, Wouldn't ''mid'' controls offer a better chance too at least miss the triple tree with your crotch?!

Just fab up a full length running board like a pickup truck.

I've ridden with forwards for so long, anything else seems confined.
I have no problem shifting weight to the pegs to stand up off the seat if needed.
