Default forward controls

Anyone here feel like sitting ducks? With forward controls that is. Being able to do a quick dismount is pretty near impossible if you ask me. I had em on my 06 sporty, and my dyna. Obviously my ride has changed and so has the foot position. Believe me, I don't think of launching at the first sign of trouble..........(that would be a good one for you tube, lol.)But it has occurred to me that the handling and overall comfort level has changed for me. I will admit that the forward controls are better for the long rides and the rider does look ''cool'' but are they worth losing a foot or leg over? If the unthinkable happens are you better off airborne or riding it out til thrown off?? Just asking how many run or even think about the decision.
( Yes , on some models, it is a decision.)

Foot pegs are not intended to replace an ejector seat.

I don't care too much for forward controls but that is just me and some love them...BUT..."the I rode it out as long as I could until I had to bail"...well not the reason for mids vs. forwards. Not many really jump off as the sequence happens too fast and jumping off sounds good but doesn't really happen. Rode MX in compentition for years and never happened.

I've got forwards on one bike, mids on another and floorboards on yet another. Different options for different bikes and no complaints about either set up.

I've got forward controls on my Dyna, had to due to my height as nothing else was comfortable. I never thought about launching myself from them, might have to check that out.

Mmmm...comfortable floorboards. I have two set ups on my two bikes. I am 6 foot and ride a sporty with mids. The forward seem so much better that I have contemplated moving them up (cept that defeats my Sporty feel a bit). Now back to that ejector seat...

Trouble is with launching yourself off of foot pegs some makes kuryakin being one no doubt there's others, are made of crap metal, put your full weight on them and they're probably going to snap off, as I recall there's a warning that comes in the paper work with them that tells you not to stand up on them.

That makes it hard to stand up just a bit when I hit the RR tracks, or speed bumps, now doesn't it?

I love my front controls, and while it's a bit more difficult to adjust my position for hard corners (no hanging off on the WG!) I don't ride that hard most of the time.

Planning to bail is not part of my plan. If I gotta jump, I won't be trying for height or distance, anyway.

Riding it to the ground will save your ***,but only if you run an engine guard. And provided you are still conscious. Jumping off? No thanks. An unguided projectile is gonna' lose big time.I can stand on Kuryakin's pegs,no problem, but the footboards on the RK are a lot better for that, and some emergency manuevers require getting up off the seat, and still maintaining control, which ain't going to happen on forward pegs.
