I'm paying off my truck April 2013 and plan to buy a 2013 Fat Boy Lo with ABS/Security with the money I was spending on my truck payment.
I realize it's speculation based on buyer interest, but I'd like opinions on whether the forum members think there will be any of the 1,750 Lo anniversary editions left in April?
Do you think I could convince a dealer to hold one if I paid him 100 bucks a month storage until April toward the price of the bike?
Plan B is to buy the black denim Lo, as that was my 2012 favorite.
I dont think there is a chance they will hold it. At a minimum they will want a hefty downpayment as well, but it's still a long shot.
Dealers don't generally do things part way. To many chances for things to go wrong on your end (health, accident, death, financial crisis, unemployment, etc) that could deprive you of your ability to complete the transaction.

Thanks in advance for the guidance.
It doesn't hurt to ask but the probability for the dealer to accept this deal is very slim. Why would he, if he can sell the bike before April 2013?
Maybe in winter, if you give him a significant down payment he'll do it but for $100/month now, I don't think he will.
To be honest I don't think they will. Those bikes are a limited run and won't be on the show room floor long, if at all.
Most dealers will want the sale to pad their numbers. The season is 2/3 or more over and they know they have to hit their targets.
Worse case is they take your money, you start to make payments of $100 a month, and come November - December when the season is over and sales dry up they sell it out from under you. Then you have to fight with them to get your money back. They will probably just offer to roll what ever you gave them into a down payment on another bike. In which case you are locked into buying from the guys you probably just want to walk away from.
I doubt one will be available without having to do a large regional or national search. However, you sound like you are pretty close to being able to finance one at this point if you use the longest possible payment plan from Eaglemark/Harley finance.
Take the $100 a month for storage and add in a bit more in a finance for 72 months and you would be saving your money rather than throwing it away on storage fees. I certainly understand that folks have a budget and different credit situations, but that would be the most efficient route to securing your bike. I think you can go no down payment, longest finance options and land a relatively low monthly plan. The other thing you could do is add the $100 a month to your truck payment and expediate the time it takes to pay it off by a couple of months.
Hope you get your bike.

I appreciate you all helping me to get some much needed perspective. I now understand the "limited" nature after hearing 4 local dealers tell me that they are only getting one in stock for the year. So I gave a down payment and have one guaranteed on hold. Now to pinch pennies until April.
