I am not seeing this note on the RIV site anywhere. I just bought a 2010 Iron that is sitting in storage in Washington atm. Was hoping to just go down and do it myself while waiting for paperwork.

Pardus, once the paperwork is done just bring the bike back on a Uhaul trailer for $15 rental. Once you get it back home take the glass off your speedo and paint the Km's on the dial in 10 km increments, as long as it's UNDER the glass it will pass the RIV inspection. I just did this a few months ago after the new rules came into effect and had no problems. Lighting fixtures are no problem unless you have a US Streetglide without the large center brake light, then you'll have to addd one. All others will pass just fine. Once your handy work is done take it to Canuck Tire for your RIV inspection and call it a day, that was my experience.

Don't forget you have to export the bike with US customs first.

ok thanks. The bike is stuck in storage in the states until I get the title from Harley financing, which sucks), and I live close to the border so thought I would go down and get it ready while it is there.

Is there any specific tool to remove and install the glass? I am a graphic designer, seems like throwing a new decal overtop would work too? If someone has an iron, any chance you could measure the inside diameter that the decal should be?

I also posted my rear lighting. the center one is just a reflector, the sides are integrated brake and signal lights. that wont work?

From what i have seen with others, they will make you change the rear light setup to have the center break light. Thats why the Canadian models have the longer rear fender to accommodate the light.

Pardus, PM me with your email or ph. # and I'll give you a hand taking the speedo apart as I've done this before and it can be a b!tch if you've never done it. I'm at work right now so I can only give you the speedo measurements tomorrow morning when I get home.

Canada Customs couldn't care less if you see US Customs, doesn't matter to them. Only reason US wants to see it is to make sure it's not on a hot list, or money owing......from a Cdn Customs Official !

Not the customs guy I talked to. I wasn't really familiar with the whole title process in the states. I knew the bike still owed money to HD Financing and made sure the seller paid it off to remove the lien. What I didn't know was HD head office held the original title paper which I need to import and will take 3 weeks to process.

Looking at my US forms, there was something about if the bike was outside the states, would have to come back for 3 days during the export process. I got US insurance and wanted to bring the bike back to Canada till the original title came and then take it back to the states to officially export. I went in to the CDN customs and they said no. I said I would pay the GST now too but they said I had to wait. Would make me feel a lot better sitting in my garage then in a US storage facility.

The US rules state that you need to send them the info(make, model, year, serial number, etc) 3 days prior to bringing it over to Canada, that's the 3 day thing. That gives their checking time. The title is the US form of our ownership, I wouldn't pay anyone unless it showed "CLEAR TITLE", anything other than that, I'd stay clear of, that's why your running into walls....

You may need to have stock exhaust on when you do you Crappy Tire RIV too. Just FYI. And don't forget the recall letter.
