Earlier this year i had the main tranny shaft and bearing go out at 21k on my 09, loud whirring noise in neutral with the clutch out. Ext. covered all $997 of it.

Like a rpm specific vibration or odd noises from the transmission pulley area?
at 43,000 miles. Luckily I have ESP....$181.19 in parts, $249.85 for labor. If you have whirling type noises when you downshift....this may be the problem
Odd how dealer costs spiral, I am doing my own, $50 in parts and nothing for labor.
Curious - does that cover the bearing, race, primary gasket, and fluids?
Sammi
Primary gasket is fine to re-use, already been in there once to have a look, that gasket could be used half a dozen times, so it includes bearing, race and fluids, if it did need gasket then add $25 as that is what they cost after market.
The 2006 dynas had the alignment dowels omitted from the cases. I had all of my cases, IPB, fluids, seals and rebuild labor covered by HD 2 years past my warranty.
All of the IPBs fail because of misalignment. The bearing in there could go 200,000 miles if it wasn't subject to misalignment by the case design. That design should have 2 thrust bearings versus the bearing they are using. Plus the trans bearings should be larger. As these motors develop more torque there will be many more failures.
