Default Riding the hawks nest tomorrow, anyone been?

taking a ride with pops up to the ny/PA border tomorrow morning to meet up with a few friends who are camping up there.

Gonna hit route 97 known as the "hawks nest". Supposed tombe a few miles of awesome curves and twisties...anyone ever been up that way?

Been there a few times over the years. Go early or late if you can, and avoid weekends. Too many squids for my taste these days.

I've noticed over the years that it's a popular spot to film automobile commercials. I've seen it in car commercials several times over the years (can't remember which brands).

I ride up there all the time. I usually do 97 to 55 to 17B (or A?) to 42 down back into Port Jervis. Watch your back for crotch rocket idiots passing on double yellows. I can swear my FXR3 smiles going through the Nest. Have a good ride.

Been there many times, it's a cool road. But, watch your back and your speed. The local LEO's watch it also.

The term 'Hawks Nest' actually refers to a restaurant that used to be perched on the cliff overlooking the river. It burned down about 5 years ago and was never rebuilt. If you continue on 97 west there's a nice little German restaurant that you can get a great meal at. Watch for the big black iron bridge over the river, it's just past that.

Look close, you can see the bridge. The 'Hawks Nest' is several miles in the background.

Don't just stop at Hawk's Nest.

Keep going -- great riding along the river. You should go at least as far as the Roebling Bridge.

Or, go to Narrowsburg, cross the river, that road will take you towards Honesdale. Baer's HD is there (on top of the hill on Rt. 6). Also, I stopped at Rusty Palmer's a couple of weeks back, nice dealership for metric, they even have a restaurant!

The Carriage House is the restaraunt stated above. Back in the day it was a nice road but now way too much of the squid traffic as well as wanna be import racers. 218 through West Point into Cornwall, Seven Lakes Drive, 301, 94 through Sterling Forrest are some nice roads around the area (about half hour out of Port Jervis).
