Default Running out of ridding buds.

A few years ago some friends and I got back into riding motorcycles after we got our kids raised up good and proper, for those of us that had kids.Weekends were great, rides with 10 or 12 or more sometimes less.We would ride till dark. After a couple of years some stoped riding some cut way back. One passed away.I enjoy riding alone or with my wife alot.Sometimes we can muster up 4 or 5 to go on a ride.I still ride about 10,000 miles a year with a least one good trip. But sometimes I miss the good old days.

I know how you feel....I don't even have 4 friends left period. You can always try what I did....I ran an ad on Craigslist in the motorcycle and groups sections asking if anyone would be interested in a riding group, no rules, no bs, no dues. I did this last month and now our group is close to 30 people of all ages. Should be a nice season

if you have 4-5 people who you like to ride with... you're ahead of the game.

Posting ads, joining social groups gives you access to many more, but you wind up riding with the same 4-5 that you started with.

half want to park at the bar, the other half rarely leave the garage nles the weather is perfect, and no chance of rain within 300 miles.

I'd rather ride with a small group of riders (on ANY brand) than park at a bar all day.... but that's just me

I know what you guys mean. We use to have lots of guys wanting to ride often. Then Hurricane Ivan came along and people either were rebuilding their houses or businesses or both. People just didn't seem to have the time to ride like we use to ie touring trips. We still do a little riding locally but its just not my thing. I've come to the conclusion, a lot of people talk a good game when it comes to touring but the rubber seems to never meet the road.

Don't know about most of you but I can't stomach HOG groups. It's like going to a costume party; not my bag I guess.

Yep, 4 or 5 is plenty. I would be very hesitant to ride with a large group that was assembled from an ad. You never know what skill levels you will have in the group, but you can bet you will get some with very low skill levels.

yeah i'm pretty much the same opinion, my wife and I went that route but weren't too happy with them not showing up on rides, meeting places period too damn often and clicky, I bitched about it but whats the point, so I was at the stealers one day got to talking with this dude, so he's a good guy to go riding with now, looking forward to summer again, f*** the hog group.

We tried the HOG thing a couple of years ago. Seems like the local chapter either wishes to stand around and bullsh*t all day, or take extended breaks at multi-stop rides (come on, why does every stop, even at a rest area, have to last more than an hour?). We actually timed the one ride that we did that had 3 stops. We got in 90 minutes of riding, and over 5 hours of breaks. I thought the idea was to do some riding as a group, not always stand around and BS.

Also, the monthly meetings here are more of a clique thing, where they simply hang around and chat with those they known for years. Newcomers are invited, but seems to get blown off a lot when somebody that they have known for years walks by. We saw newcomers leave and not come to anymore meetings. My wife and I got fed up and did the same thing.

Of the two guys I used to ride a lot with, one is getting alot of OT this year (which he is grateful for), and the other one only seems to want to ride when he gets the urge, which is rarely. So, I ride a lot by myself, or with the wife on the weekends.
