I was responding to another post about a starting anomalie and came away with more questions than answers. The original poster had what I thought might be a hard start situation because of trying to start the bike at the top of the compression cycle. Other posters chimed in that the bike (a 2012) came equipped with an automatic compression release or that the release wasn't activated.
I responded by saying it like it was. I didn't know, but I would break out the owners manual and find out. There is no reference to any compression release on the bike (mine is an 09 Road King) let alone a procedure to activate it. I know that there is such an animal but I am unsure if any stock Harley ever had it.
Does anyone here know for certain if any stock Harley had or has had an automatic compression release on it?
look at the parts manual. for the 2012s, it shows acr on the touring bikes. i didn't look at the softails or dynas. pretty cheap too, they run about 40 bucks
I don't think the 2011's has them unless they had the 103 or bigger motor. I think it's stock on 2012s with the 103s, and again on the 2013s. CVOs may go back a little further.
