Anyone ever wonder why US companies have gone overseas for manufacturing?
Think they're all evil, greedy companies, just trying to suck up every dollar of profit that they can?
Or, perhaps, some of them did it in order to stay in business because the American consumer would not pay the prices they'd have to charge to stay in business without moving?
I ALWAYS TRY TO BUY AMERICAN MADE FIRST AND I TRY HARD! THAT'S WHAT KEEPS AMERICA GOING, THE MONEY GOES ROUND AND ROUND IN OUR SYSTEM. My second choice is imported, BUT ONLY FROM COUNTRYS WHERE THE TRADE GOES ROUGHLY BOTH WAYS AND THEY DON'T HATE AMERICA. THIS IS MANDATORY FOR MY HARD EARNED DOLLARS!!!! NOT OPTIONAL...EVER! As a second choice, Taiwan is our friend and the trade does go both ways.
You do realize "America" includes Canada and Mexico?
This thread is cracking me up! Did you know that there's a couple of Toyota models that have 10% more parts made in the USA and Canada than a Ford F-150? How about that poor, country-of-origin confused "Charlie" in Tiawan. Ask him how he feels about having only a few pieces of chrome made in his country.
I ran into a businessman in the Philippines and he explained that he prefers to do business in SE Asia, not for the low wages, but to escape ridiculous lawsuits, bureaucracy and red tape involved with running a business in the U.S.
American quality....ever drove a GM made in the late 1970's?
20/20 did a hidden camera and caught the workers at a Chrysler plant smoking pot and getting drunk on morning break.
My 1999 Saturn was buring oil at 30,000 miles, when I took it in on warranty, Saturn told me it wasn't burining enough oil to warrant fixing it.
So, GM and Chrysler lost my business for good. I speak for alot of others. If you are an American Autoworker and want to keep your livelihood, then every single damn day, you need to do your BEST and give 100%, or it is going to bite you in the ***.
....no thanks. I'll take quality parts, and don't care where they are built. Americans are lazy and spoiled and take everything for granted.
Soon enough.....our come-uppance will be upon us. "Good enough" doesn't cut it when you wnat MY BUSINESS AND MONEY.
Equating Taiwan and "charlie".......Education is priceless, but it might do some good to read a book and get out a bit. Frankly it's embarassing to read such stupidity....no wonder other countries see us as a bunch of dumbshits.

I wasn't aware of who CCI was or where they came from, I originally made the post to let others who AREN'T aware of this, take it into consideration before buying. I picked the tank because it's pretty popular and I like the way it looks, not because it had a Yaffe name behind it. I also THOUGHT that these were made here in the US. As far as Charlie goes I'm not very well versed as to who is the Gook, Slope or Zipperhead, was just making a racist generalization I guess. As far as being stupid or a dumbshit that probably applies mainly to someone who would buy a Saturn.

Interesting to read about the same complaints in the year 2012 that were made in the 70's; only then it was about parts companies like Dixie and Superior becuase the parts were made in "Japan". Most who have been around a bit have actually found that these "Japanese" made parts are pretty decent quality and work well if you find them, but will cost some dollars to get.
Not sure when/at what point HD started outsourceing to Japan, but I now that part of the front end components on my 84 FLH are made in Japan, as well as some of the electrical stuff.
Be interesting to see how/which the "foreign-made" parts stand the test of time and the next generation of riders compares parts made "overseas" to where their "foreign-made" parts are derived/outsourced to/ manufactured at.
