Hi folks. New here. I have an 08' FLHX with a stage 1 and slip ons. I am going to a race tuner and get the local dealer here to dial it in on his dyno. he is probably one of the best engine guys in these parts. He told me that to get the best out of, on 08's and earlier, you need to go to true duals otherwise it is difficult to dial in the rear cylinder because of the stock cross over pipe design. Having said all of that, does anyone have any experience with this issue and recommendations on true dual manufacturers. Thanks
I was told the same thing and that's why I'm getting rid of my stock headers on my 08 and going to a true dual system. If you go to the TOURING forum, you'll see a post I just made about some online sellers on AMAZON.COM selling a complete true dual system or 07 and 08 models for under $100.00!

I've heard just the opposite about getting the best out of an 08' and earlier or any engine. I would look for another tuner.
2-1-2 (crossover) produces more torque in the lower rev range. 2-2 ("true" duals) will give a little more horsepower in the upper rev range. And a lot of people think they sound better. 2 into 1 gives the best results overall. Regardless, you'll need a higher-volume air intake. Search the threads on this, it's been beat to death a few hundred times. It all comes down to what works for you.
Thanks to all for your input. I appreciate it. Not too crazy about the 2-1 just because of the look. Unbalanced to me on a touring bike. That is for sure the way to go if you are out for more power. Every racing bike has that set up. I am pretty happy with the power, was just looking for a little better sound than the pop that my old Kerkers produce and if I could get a little more power, great. The other thing I was after was getting the temp down a little more by really dialing it in on a Dyno. Speaking of temp, has anyone used the rush headers? I heard they do run cooler because of the cerami coat but don't know anyone with that setup. Regarding rinehart, I had heard that the rear pipe sticks out too far and will cook the back of your left thigh for a 5'10" rider. Any knowledge on this rumor.
Thanks again
