Default ESP's - experiences: good/bad?

You may have seen my post yesterday about my new SG and that I'm mulling over the ESP. On this forum and others I've seen several nightmare stories about denial of coverage when issues arise. I'm sure somebody has had to have had a good experience with ESP service.

I'm curious as to any of your personal experiences with getting ESP work done - good or bad. Specifically if you have had any minor mods done to your bike, i.e. stage 1 or PCV, etc.

Thanks

Bill

Out of a few claims I had on my 'o6 one was denied.

I had holes worn thru the fairing(roadglide)from the radio bracket. They blamed it on the Dynomat that I installed.

May I ask what your approved claims were for? Did those ones get processed smoothly?

Thanks,

Bill

I still have 6 months to go on my factory warranty, but fully intend to go with the 5 year ESP when that time arrives. My best friend rides an 08 screamin eagle ultra, and his squeeze has the triglide, and between them they have more than recovered the cost of the ESP for both bikes in repair work. They've even been covered for things gone wrong that he admitted was is fault, but if anything in the problem was perceived as a defect or breakdown, they've been covered.

Had an 07 ultra stock then had the 110SE kit installed in 09. This spring I had some problems with the primary and all 3 times it was taken care of under the ESP and I only paid the 50 deductible. My problem was each time it was in they would find something and fix it, then a week or two later the noise was back. The last time I asked them to do a thorough check break it all down to make sure it was right. Well they told me the ESP would not cover that, so out the door I go again. Get about 100 miles and the noise is back again. Meanwhile and without my knowing my wife is talking with another dealer about a trade. So I ride into the dealer my wife had been talking to to see about a trade. 2 days later I am out the door with a 2012 Ultra. The night I went in to talk about the trade they never even started the 07, just walked around it looked it over and made me an offer. Well I went back into the dealer where I got the new bike about 3 weeks after the deal and was talking with the sales manager and asked him how he made out selling the 07. Told me he sold it within the first week and the buyer got about 5 miles down the road and the bottom end blew out.
Was glad I traded it but am still confused how the guys doing the work could not have known how bad it was.
I did get the added 5 year on the new one, figured with the work I had done on the 07 it did pay for itself.

Ultra - I could be mistaken, but my impression is that the problem there was with the service Dept rather than with the ESP company - unless the ESP dictated to the shop (which I suppose isn't out of the question). Either way, you got lucky with that timing!

Well, I've only had one experience with them and it was awesome! Had a huge nail in my tire (I also have the tire/wheel coverage). Dealer sent a wrecker to pick up the bike ($150.00), and had it delivered to them. They called the ESP people prior to working on the bike and they approved everything with hardly a question asked. They put on a new tire and tube ($300.00 +) and the ESP covered all that and the tow bill.

I needed new rear brakes, so all that cost me was for the parts since they already had everything apart to replace the tire.

Dealer told me they would only cover the cost of the tire up to the cost of the original tire for the bike. Luckily, they had in stock my Commander II tires, and are actually a bit cheaper than the Dunlops.

I am super happy with the service so far. And unlike H.O.G., it's not just a once a year kind of thing with the towing part.

When I traded for my '07 Street Glide in February ('12), it had some remaining ESP on it. I bought additional ESP (3 years) around March.

I just had over $2000 worth of work done (flywheel replacement) with no issues, and, a $50 deductible.

It has more than just paid for itself.

Thanks, guys, for all your input. You have been very helpful. I will go ahead and get the 7-year ESP.
