They are on I-40 here in Tennessee..I sure do not want to get tangled up in that..The semi traffic sure seems to do a number on them, really points out how folks fall a sleep,text,etc..They take out city blocks of that stuff around here..

Holy crap!! the Yukon (in Canada) had those decades ago, but have long since got rid of them because THEY ARE DANGEROUS!!! Who has their heads up their butts in allowing the installation of those things? Don't they do any research before doing stuff like that?

They're sprouting like weeds here in MN and WI. They scare the crap out of me.

the "THINKING" is that they do a better job of stopping a car or semi without it rebounding back into traffic or jumping over into oncoming traffic.

CalTrans just installed a stretch on Highway 101 through Ukiah, CA. First I've seen of them.
I was wondering the reason behind using that type barrier over post and rail.

Started installing them a couple of years ago here in Victoria, Aussie. Now heavy installation taking place.
Traffic Authority thinks they are absolutely the best and safest barrier going-- couldn't give a stuff about 2 wheelers.....

I think I can stay away from the cables. They may save me from a head on from a car or truck losing control and hitting me. Roads are not built like racetracks with wide smoothe run offs and corner workers. Add the cables to the long list of road hazards to be aware of.
