If you ride short trips and do not let the bike get to operating temperature the chances of this happening are greatly increased.
cheers
+1 on this. Part of the reason I won't ride the bike to work unless I know I'll get a little extra ride in before and after I get off. My wife and I both work exactly 4 miles straight up the road from our house. We go thru exhausts on our cars much quicker than most due to this short drive.
does this bike have a cat? by-product of the catalytic converter is water just like the cars will do. getting exhaust up to temps, as stated earlier will fix this, but it is a normal function
What would be the reason why the rear cylinder muffler would have rust at the end where it exits ? Engine fault, common, result of sitting around unused at dealers etc or don't worry about it?
Will it change color with use?
As per pic below
Thinking U answered Ur own questions...
Spray a little oil on it and wipe it out/off, U'll prob get most of it off. Looks like normal rust from sitting for a while.
Moisture will and does do that to metal's unless protected or made of Alloy of some kind.
And yes ridding her will prob turn it back to normal black/gray again.

It's not catalytic convertors that produce water, it's the burning of the fuel/air mixture.
Will be looking to change pipes over to something with a growl instead of the quiet pur of standard pipes soon as i can find some at the right money here in tokyo.
