this is my first yearwith a bike and I am wondering which cold weather gear I am missing. I have the leather jacket, and face mask. just got chaps today, but on way home my boyz still got a little chilly. leg, and upper body stayed warm.
The boyz get chilly because ain't nothin there. I got pants last year but not too happy with the fit. I'll probably try a pair like reddzx has. I use Gerbings battery heated gloves because I've had frostbitten fingers and don't take any chances. Lasts between 1-2 hours. Don't ride much more than that if it's really cold. Toe warmers for the boots too.

Reason: spelling
The most I ever wear (<50 degrees) is a hoodie under my jacket, chaps over my pants, goretex socks, freeze-out glove liners under gloves and a neoprene face mask. If I was going to ride for hours and knew it would be cold as hell I might wear long johns.
A pair of long underwear will go a long ways in keeping you warm.
I ride in weather as long as there is no ice on the road..I sometimes will wear leather over pants with suspenders,or the Gerbings heated gear and you are warm like toast..
Usually when I ride in the CA winters, I leave the house a 430 in the morning and it can be below freezing. I have tried several different cold weather schemes. Started out with a leather jacket, long johns, redwing gauntlets. Fingers froze. Tried silk liners under the leather gauntlets, fingers still froze. Got ski gloves, too bulky and could't feel the controls.
Now, I wear a FXRG leather jacket with a gerbings heated liner under it, First Gear heated gloves, lined jeans, Chaps, and a full face helmet with a net gaiter. This kept me warm on my softail with no windshield, at 32 degrees with a one way commute. I've been up to Julian which the temps in the 20's with no problems. My riding buddies froze their buts off, but all have since bought at least the heated gloves. Some of my buddies wear Carhart insulated bibs for when we are going out to the desert in the winter months and will be out after dark when the temps go down drastically.
Hope I have provided you some good information here.
