Common Sense Prevails
It may go over with his aunt and uncle, but most people in the real world just want to kick the yappy little chihuahua in his tiny little ******* to shut him up.
God help us now that cold weather is setting in...

I'd just hop on my bike and ride away, he's probably got a 20 minute 60 step pre ride checklist that requires consulting the manual.
I bought a batch of those bikes once and sold them off to people who wanted to get into the sport. My ex used one of them, a KZ200, to pass her riders test. The others in her group all failed. They were on shiny new Harleys and they could barely make it out of the lot w/o dropping them. It was pathetic.
There's all kinds of too much. Power and weight are two biggies when it comes to motorcycling.
As far as other factors such as the actual engine performance and power/weight ratios, yes, it would seem crazy to put a new rider on a 1000 CC sport bike and not expect something bad to likely happen. I wouldn't want to be on a bike where an accidental twist of the throttle will send the bike out from under me.
As far as what is too much bike for a beginner, that is an interesting question. Looking at it on the surface, it would seem the answer is not cut and dry, as there are too many variables. The new rider could be a 300 pound guy that is 6'2" or a female rider weighing 120 pounds and 5'. There is the matter of simple physics here.
Overall, however, I just think the use of common sense is really all that is needed. Someone could form arguments for or against certain choices. However, talking about 1000CC sport bikes and 900 pound Road Glides for beginners violates the laws of common sense. It also might indicate a propensity to be a candidate for the Darwin Awards.
On this subject, it just strikes me as odd that some grown men here, who will go unnamed, can be found discussing a certain TV show as if they were housewives gossiping about a Soap Opera over Tea and Biscuits. They gossip about the actors new hairstyle, the color of their new shoes, what they ride on, etc. They talk about such actors by their first name as if they know them personally. They gossip about who is going to sleep with whom and who is going to break up or leave a club. They have trouble sleeping and shed tears because an actor was 'offed'.
Now, there is nothing wrong with that. Everyone has their own interests. But when these same certain individuals, who will again go unnamed, leave a certain thread and go out and criticize other individuals who have sincere and honest discussions about motorcycles or riding, and proceed to accuse them of cluttering the forum with mindless drivel, well.......that's all I have to say about that.

I don't believe that for a minute.
