I have no way to confirm it, but when I left Vegas Bike Week a couple years ago, I rode through the worst winds and stomrs I've ever experienced. I was told that the wind was gusting at over 70 mph, but like I said I can't confirm. All I know is it felt like I was riding with the bike leaned at 45 degrees. Was not fun at all...especially with the torrential rain and hail...
Chamberlain, SD, is a valley town. On the way to Sturgis in '06 we were on the back side of a horrendous thunderstorm. Coming in from the north, we got blown across the road at the top of the ridge. Down in the valley, at Chamberlain, we were blown over at a stop sign. Worst wind I've ever experienced in 46 years of riding.
A few years back in the month of April the wife & I were riding double on a Dyna Wide Glide with bags and a windshield through Franconia Notch in the White Mountains of NH.
Even though there were signs telling drivers to be cautious of moose crossings and high crosswinds, I didn't really think much of it until the winds began to blow us around like a feather.
I have no idea what the wind speed was but I ended up slowing down to about 35 mph on the highway until we got away from that wind.

A former coworker of mine was telling me about a similar experience. He said it was tiring and pretty freaky. I could only imagine leaning at a 45 just to go in a straight line
