Powder coating is serious fun. Just don't let too many folks know you do it or they'll be lined up!!
I've been toying with doing my own powder coating. Under $100 for the Eastwood system sounds like a reasonable deal. So far the chome that I have turned black was done by using a mini media blaster (that I found at Northern Tool for $40), primer and a texture black rattle can.
Everything has held up so far, but there are still some parts (like my rocker covers) that I want to get powder coated.
The material has various specs and you can get high heat rated by temp. by the makers. The quality stuff, baked exactly to spec will handle most vehicle manifold and pipe needs. Higher heat stuff is still being introduced and I'm waiting a bit for the next generation of powder coatings for someprojects I have in mind. The great thing is that good PC is harder than the hubs of hell and highly resistant to chips and abrasion.

Thankfor all the info. No negative responces says a lot. Now all I need to do is get up enough guts to take sssaand pppaper to my new $400 auxilary lights.
The big used oven will work great. The added air circulation makes a better baked surface. Powder coating is serious fun. Just don't let too many folks know you do it or they'll be lined up!!
You guys suck!!! Now that I started thinking about it and researching DIY powdercoating - I just ordered a powdercoating gun and some wrinkle black powder.
