To install a chrome inner is about 3.5-4.5 hours labor.....plus the cost of the case. Kuryakyn is a much more reasonable solution, but I'm not a "cover" kind a guy.

Quit worrying about what the dealer might charge anddo the installation yourself. . . . ?. . . .
Search out the parts, find the best deal you can find, either through a "spring cleaning sale"
or "e-bay" etc. etc. etc. Find the real parts not the covers ! You might learn something about
the ride you trust your life with and you'll feel better about the whole thing when it's said and done.
It took me approximately 14 hrs. to install inner and outter chrome primary, but I don't know what I'm doing.
I could get it done quicker than that now, because I've been there, done that.
Installation tips =
a)be sure to hand tap all holes before installation, ya don't want any leaks after you're done.
b) don't over torque any bolts
c) install fresh O-Ring gasket in outter primary cover to avoid leaks
e) get the $1.50 bronze/ brass starter bushing during your first trip to the parts counter
Eastern's will match or beat most folks price. Well they do for me anyways. Not sure where you live, but they do installation also, shop fees are lower than any Harley dealer in town and I live in Maryland.

You make a good point. But consider this: If I needed a heart bypass, I could save a ton of money and do it in my garage. I'll probably leak a little, my blood pressure may be too low and my heart may quit working in the middle of the Arizona desert, but I can feel proud of the fact that I didn't need anyones help.
