Finally pulled the trigger!
All kidding aside, turns out one of my roommates has actually done a lot of riding before, so he was teaching me the basics on my street. It's narrow, so I'm still a little too nervous to do a U-turn myself, but hopefully tomorrow!
EDIT: In response to Gir's post above this one, I did not try the local credit union. I almost did, but I had already done a few apps and, having so little credit history, I didn't want to have my credit pulled so many times that it looked like I was borrowing too much money. I'm really happy with the deal I got at the dealership, though. 20% interest rate, but they had to lower the price of the bike to get me approved for financing, so the sticker price of $7000 dropped to an out-the-door price of $6700, including the 1-year warranty. Four-year term and no prepayment penalties, so I plan to bite the bullet on the APR this time around and use it to pad my credit score.
...Damn, I can't wait to hop back on. A few short rides up and down the street, with my roommate turning it around for me, and I'm already having the time of my life.
