I think they will recycle it again, but who knows when. My last springer was a 2000 model and I loved it, but truthfully the springer is the worst handling front end and the headlight movement drives ya crazy sometimes, if not the folks in front of you in a pack. Hope if they bring it back they improve it a bit.

Your opinion of the springer being "the worst handling front end" is just that, an opinion. In 40 years of riding Harleys I will say that it is one of the best handling front ends I have ever ridden (there again opinion). I will say the headlight jumps around a bit, but anybody that doesn't like it can ride behind me.
They discontinued all springers when they made ABS available on the entire Softail line. What I was told at the dealer is that they could not make the springer work with ABS.

Ditto what 71 says. I like riding my 96 BB more than my 05 Train any day but wouldn't let go of either one.If you rode one and it handled bad it needed work then.
I love the springer "ride". Definately sweet. My understanding is that the springer front end was very costly for Harley to produce. Lots of parts in it and they have to make it themselves instead of just buying the showa parts.
Why do retailers do anything? To make money! I lay the blame on soulless computer-driven market analysis. I got my 2002 Spring Heritage by accident - I wandered into Conrad's and there sat a new shipment of bikes, all tagged "Do Not Sit - Sold" except for one - the one I bought. I had an customized '85 FXRT, just bought an '89 Softail Wide-Glide, and had no idea how I would pay for it or the Springer, but the Wide-Glide went quickly, and the FXRT went at a bargain to a friend. Love the way I fit on the Springer, and the way it handles. I've had a few springers, and this newish Heritage is what I like to ride the best.

Look at it this way, IF H-D resumes the "springer" front-end it would more than likely NOT be a true H-D manufactured part.
