I had an 06 that I loved from day one. Gotta admit front end handled heavy in comparison to traditional front ends. Did alot of mods from 16" apes to drag bars to zero suspension. Lots of compliments anywhere I took her. With my back problems she was no longer rideable for me. Could have put her back together as stock setup (except fender strut cover chop and rear fender chop) and i probably would have gotten by a little longer, but decided to let her go to someone who could enjoy it how it was setup. 2014 streetglide night and day difference in comfort. Night and day difference in compliments also though. No regrets. Enjoyed her while I had her.
They discontinued all springers when they made ABS available on the entire Softail line. What I was told at the dealer is that they could not make the springer work with ABS.
This plus its hard to get a really good front brake on a springer without it deflecting. Not saying it cannot be done but the cost could be to high for mass production.
ABS is going to be a requirement like it is in parts of Europe here sooner then most expect. Plus less sub's for other markets.
Additionally the springer needed a good bit more service then the usual front end and Harley was getting a ton of complaints on the cost and the noise was the result.

Ummmmmm, what good bit more service? The front end needs to be taken down to grease the rockers because HD did not use the zirc fittings as on the pre-48 models, but that said it just requires some flex-ties to keep the front-rear fork correct.
Sorry but there is a lot more moving parts on the Hydra-Glide front end (internal and external) than there is on the Springer type.

Hmmmmm interesting. I guess I must be one of the lucky ones because I've had mine for 10 years and I haven't had to do anything to the front end and I also know of another person that has one and hers has been trouble free also and she rides harder than I do.
