I say wait till spring. Advantage in waiting is that your money spent on the battery sits in the garage gaining no interest...

I would wait until spring unless battery is completely dead. There will be some days that you can ride between now and spring. Wouldn't want a dead battery deprive one of that. If you have a tender and old battery is chargeable, wait until spring.......

+1 - and the battery warranty starts running the day you buy it.

I have an Adventure Power battery in my 99 Softail Custom that is 6 years old and going strong. Last I looked you can get them from Amazon for around $80.00. It is an AGM battery, and I have never had mine on a tender.

Yea; you'll be missin' out on that whole 20 cents at today's interest rates.

Had a discussion with someone that I work with. His battery is just over a year old and he needs another one already. He keeps it on an expensive battery tender. He blames the battery manufacturer. I blame the dumbass that put a tender on his battery. I have two Harley's and neither one of them has ever seen a battery tender. Both of my battery's are over four years old now. Got six years out of one of the battery's before this set. Regulator had a burn out and I think that killed the original battery The other battery was the original when the bike was bought. Got five years out of it. The battery tenders we used on our equipment at work weren't lengthening the lives of those batteries. If it was me I would buy the battery when I need it and never put a battery tender on it. Being winter I expected this to appear sooner or later-----------it did.

Mine are always on a battery tender except the one I ride regularly.

Even the H-D batteries only have one year warranty, probably because a lot of owners don't use the battery tenders and don't ride enough to keep the battery full charged.

On our "road" bikes I run the batteries two seasons and then put them in the older, less used bikes.

Bikes, unlike cars, do not run well with a discharged battery and I don't think trying to get that last season, last mile, or last start out of a battery is worth the risk of being stranded, or perhaps damaging the charging/electrical system on a bike.

FWIW, with the cost of batteries these days, I may start ordering mine from Battery Mart.
