I am left handed and I personally have always been more confident in the right handers. I don't know that I know a reason why, but I seem to take the right handed curves with more "accuracy". By that I mean not having to adjust my angle and finding the right line through the curve on the first lean adjustment.

Best thing to do is practice. My buddies and I will occasionally take a ride with the intent of practicing a few maneuvers. If we find a curve we like that maybe one of us is having issues with we will ride it turn around and repeat it just for the extra practice.

Think what left or right handed means.

It's the side with which you are going to have the most coordination without having to think about it.

I think left hand u-turns are easier because that's the normal way we do u-turns, so have much more practice turning left.
If you miss a turn, it's only normal to do a left handed u-turn. Maybe in countries that drive on the left, right u-turns are more natural?
Maybe that effect carries over to open road turns as well.
