Hi All
Just fitted a pair of zodiac copy 'Balony' cut muffler's to my 2007 'streetbob' , Do I now need to fit a Power Commander to ensure the fuel metering is correct or will the stock fuel injection system be ok ??
If you didn't do anything to the intake, you are fine. If you did the intake most will say yes to some sort of adjustment be it a aftermarket tuner or a reprogram by the dealer, some will say no because the ECM will adapt on its own. I can't give you a straight answer as I am not sure what the right one is. I have only done remaps from HD and they have worked fine for pipes and a breather on an '07 and a '10 with cams and a big bore kit. Do a search on this site, there are more opinions and some facts than you can read in an evening. Good luck with getting a straight answer.
By relieving backpressure caused by mufflers you have not changed your intake mixture. Short answer is no, you do not need to remap for a muffler change. Adding a high flow air cleaner/filter might lean out an already too lean from factory condition and I would then remap accordingly.
