I had cool dual zipper HD boots, dual zipper on either side of the tongue. The zippers failed so many times I decided to never have a pair of boots for the bike with zippers again.
I may have the same style, Over 6K miles in under six months and they're holding up well.

The trick for zippered boots like those (and my Paraspanna's) is to rub a wax candle up and down the teeth of the zipper inside and out.You be amazed at how smooth the zipper works.Usually lasts a few months.
They were made for motorcycle state troopers . They knocked $100 off because they said they were slitely blemished ... i couldn't find it .
I then had my local cobblers add a thicker sole and heel as i am verticaly challenged .
I have been riding with tall steel toe engineer boots for 30 years .
My favorite boots are my 17" tall Chippewa engineer boots. Considering how hard they are to put on, I can't imagine them flying off very easily.
thinking about a buying some chips got my old chip loggers wow they are really heavy and will last as long as i will ,are the engineer boots really heavy ?

It was over the years. The zipper would fail and would stay "zipped" despite the tab being at the top. A "split" if you will.
Perhaps the action of walking around with them accelerated the problem.

It wasn't the smoothness being an issue, it was the long-term reliability.

I literally knocked him out of shoes, very truthful after seeing on the ground, we could have cared less about the shoes, more when they whee found they where not anywhere near the accident.
