Sorry didn't want to jack a post. One of you guys were saying about changing the battery in the security fob. Mines an 07 Low, so I doubt seriously the battery has been changed. I bought the bike used so I don't have the owners manual or a code, is it gonna F$%^ up and not run?
I will give you a reply - have not read the other post.......
I went to Walgreens Pharmacy.......while in the parking lot I removed the Fob from the key ring......look at it very closely and you will see a place on it's edge where you can insert a very small screw driver and pop the claim shell Fob apart.......it takes a large flat battery - Can't remember the size, seems to be easy to find......Good Luck
Nope Just change the battery. Also learn how to change PIN and store in your phone the process for starting without the fob incase you lose the fob or battery goes dead. If you have not changed the PIN from factory PIN I can walk up and start your bike.
the fob uses a 2032 watch battery. its obviously still working cause you're able to ride your bike, correct? if you don't know the override code, you can retrieve it yourself, you don't have to go to the dealer for it. the procedure is in the manual. it isn't as hard as it looks at first glance, but you do have to have a working fob with you to do it.
also a good idea to practice entering the override code so if you ever need to, it isn't a big problem. and there are times that you will have to. if there is any electrical interference, it is a whole lot easier to input the code, then trying to push your bike around trying to find a 'clear' spot.
Mobil Gas Station Speed Pass Pumps may prevent the HD FOB from working - just push your bike away about 1-2 feet !
The 2032 battery may NOT work right when it is discharged just 25% +-, don't check the battery with a meter - just replace it every year or so - I got over 2 1/2 years out of each mine -

if you get 2-1/2 years out of a battery, why do you advocate changing it every year? seems wasteful to me. i use mine till it no longer works, which was 4 years for my last one. use the override code, stop at a dollar general or walmart when convenient and pick up a new one. it only takes a few seconds to input the override code, so if you're on a group ride, it isn't like everyone has to wait on you.
but ask my wife. she'll tell you i'm a cheap bastard. i just don't like throwing something away that is still good....
