You will know if your price is to high the crickets will be chriping but right now those with the cash are not in the buying mood. When I sell off a bike I look at the completed listings on ebay, search craigslist, and look at trade in prices. Selling anything is always about supply and demand, right now the supply of near new harleys for sale is ski high and the demand is pretty low, these days to sell a bike you need an attractive price to catch someones eye.
Good Luck
I have a 2011 Fat Boy Lo that I'm thinking of putting up for sale (personal deal); perhaps put an ad up on CraigsList.
I looked at N.A.D.A. and Kelly Blue Book, and according to them, if the bike's in good to excellent condition, it should command somewhere around $15,400/ 15,500.
My bike is very clean and well-kept (exterior and maintenance-wise); I should be able to get top-dollar. Here's what I want to find out, though, as far as advice goes:
The bike was purchased by me from a dealership; it used to be a former rental of theirs. The bike had approximately 8,000 miles on it when I got it, and after a year+ of ownership, it now has over 18,000 miles on it.
For a motorcycle, is 18,000 miles considered a lot? I'm not sure if that's a cold-hard fact. I've heard some people say that it is; they say you can't compare it to a car when it comes to miles, that for a motorcycle, it's like it ages faster. Is this true for Harley's? Compared to the metrics?
If I place an ad and get some takers (some people that have done their homework, NADA, Kelly Blue Book, etc.), are they going to say that my mileage should knock some dollars off the asking price?
I'd appreciate any help, tips, or suggestions.
Thanks,
Pez
I'm in a different geographic location, but bought a brand new '12 Lo back in September for $15,300 + 6% tax.

18K miles is not a lot for a modern Harley. That said, you'll be doing really good to get Nada/KBB retail for the bike. You'll still be doing good to get their 'private party sale' price (lower than the retail price if purchased from a dealer).
If you want to get discouraged, get on eBay and search on your bike, make/model/etc. Then at the top of the page, click on Completed Auctions. Compare the asking prices to the prices the bikes that sell, go for... It's still a Buyer's Market, unfortunately.
In any case, good luck with the sale. If you can hold out until March or so (Spring) and list then, you'll probably have an easier time, getting a better price.
Lots of opinions here.....all valid for whomever offered them. In a warm climate 18K is not high miles for a bike 2 model years old IMO. We buy these things to ride them, after all. The advice to check closed sales on eBay is great advice. Best of luck.
I just bought a '10 Deluxe with stage 1 last month for $14k and only 5k miles. The high miles are gonna kill you in AZ, cuz so many are out there with less than 1/2 that. We are in the riding months for AZ right now, but it's a buyers market. Put in on CL and see if you get any bites...
What about trading in, and using your bikes value to offset taxes??
And whether I put it up now for sale or wait until Spring, I'm thinking around $14,000 or so.
Anyway.....where's that "Completed Auctions" thing?
Thanks!

When you open the page with "Harley's for sale", you'll see where it says 1347 Harley's for sale. Look to the right of that and you'll see buy it now bikes, and completed sales.,,

Just do a search for a motorcycle. Any bike. For example, search 2011 Fat Boy. Then narrow (refine) the search down to the "Motorcycles" only category to eliminate all the parts and accessories that come up in the search. Up at the top of the list next to the 12 matches found will be a "See Completed Listings" button. Thats it. You will get all the auctions in the last 30 days. If the price is in green, it sold. If the price is red, it did not. Its truly an invaluable feature.
edit: I just ran a search for a 2011 Fat Boy like yours. The bikes that sold went for 12 and 12.5, and the bikes that did sell had way less mileage than your bike. ALL the bikes in the price range your thinking had 3K to 5K tops, and many had even less than that.
