My RK had a badlander seat on it when I first bought it, and I rode with it for a year. One of the best seats my backside has sat on in 20+ years of riding. Never gave me butt burn.
BUT- this is the part that might not help: The driver's area was too long front to back and offered no support. My butt would slide back while I rode and put too much stress on my lower back, which would start hurting after 45 minutes. That may not be a factor on a softail. Also, if I was about 2 or 3 inches taller, it probably wouldn't have been a factor on my King (I'm 5'10").
Nice seat to park a butt on, though, and it sure looked good. Ended up buying a buddies stock Street Glide seat, which holds me in place better so my back is happy.
No...swapped the stock seat out on my '06 for a leather badlander...it looks better but the comfort level is about the same IMO.
I did the same thing and came to the same conclusion. My favorite seat is the Le Pera Daytona Sport LT Series (LC-542S). It's a very comfortable seat for one up riding and looks great IMO.
