Last Fall, I bought a used 2011 Heritage at the Harley dealer....still under factory warranty until April 2013.
Got the bike home and rode it awhile and wanted to clean the dirty windshield. So I started with warm soapy water and dried it with a micro cloth. It still didn't look clean (looked like it had thousands of tiny dots next to each other on the entire windhsield...so I try Lemon Pledge. It improved, but still have the thousands of tiny dots.
Looking thru the windshield isn't sharp and clear, it almost has a hazy clear look to it.
I wonder after looking on the web if the previous owner or dealer cleaned the Lexan windshield with Rain-X.
Try Plexus. I've used it on mine for the last eight years and it still looks great. Not new, but close. Novus is another product I've heard about but never used. Maybe others will chime in about it's qualities.
My HD quick release windshield is almost 4 years old, and I only use lemon pledge on it. It removes bugs really well and leaves the windshield clean and clear. If I did not know better I would think your windshield has a protective film covering on it that has not been removed.
