A little spit and then some Duct tape has always done the trick for me.

if you glue them you will have a ugly area shaped like the patch if you ever take it off and lose some leather with it.

I bet this works best when you have one of those real bad head colds where ya have a need to clear your post nasal drip by spitting

Sounds like ya found yourself a very good tailor. Especially to go through all that effort to undo some of the liner to sew the patch on correctly.

Now that deserves a second thought using a nail gun instead of a mallet.
I'm wondering if nail guns will be considered an Assault Weapon and be banned. It fits all the criteria to be an Assault Weapon

There's a local indy shop in Mesa that does it. The husband wrenches the bikes and his wife sews patches and does leather repair. She usually sews them on while I wait and only charges a couple bucks per patch.
