I know this doesn't really belong in the softail section, but I never go into any of the other forums...........
So, when I was a kid, one of my uncle's had a '56 pan chop. Ever since I could remember, he had this bke. I do believe that was the first bike I ever got a ride on (roughly 8-9 yo). Well, since he got up in age, he bought a geezer glide in 01 (sill had the chop) and I heard a few years later, he sold it. I thought he sold it to my cousin(they moved to colorado some years ago), but recently found out that he sold it to his middle daughters husband. Wish I knew it was on the market because I would have made a play for it. We went to my cousin's house (his oldest daughter) tonight since my aunt was visiting. We got into the topic of the pan and she said that the son in law hasn't ridden it and isn't doing anything with it and told my aunt he would sell it back to her. So I say "Sure, he'd sell it to you......" to wit she replies that I could just buy it from her, just name a price and we'll work it out. She says he's asking too much (still under market price) and I can get this bad boy for a song. I'll just have to re assemble it.
This is the bike that started my ever lasting love of Harley's. Now it's within reach of being mine.
If you can get a deal you wont be sorry, go for it man. You are going to have a good time tinkering with that thing, cant wait to see it parked out front!
I think I can probably get the complete bike for around the 5G range. I just have to talk the wife into it. Hard for a lot of women to understand these things. Given the history involved should help my case. Not to mention what it's worth.
I will keep my fingers crossed for you.... Hope you get that bike. If only everyone could get their hands on that one scoot that sparked the love of riding.
