Man, that's hardcore
We are often the cause of our own demise but still complain when a guy speeds though an intersection on his bike and then t-bones another idiot turning left, or any other kind of meeting of metal. I see it every day on the road, riders driving as bad as car drivers. I hate to see anyone hurt in accidents but I just don't shed too many tears anymore over people paying dearly for bad decisions. Not to say this was the cause in this case.
We can speculate whose fault it was, at the end of the day if you ride a motorcycle you can't claim your right of way. That right is bull*hit because when you come into contact the bike will be the losing side. always.
What I take from this story is that, if you are riding down your lane, and you are constantly looking ahead and monitoring/scanning the traffic as you should, and you spot a car stopped on the opposite shoulder, a truck approaching and you converging on the same spot at the same time, your alert sys should go off as potential trouble is coming, it's going to be tight, therefore you should slow down , and move to the right side of your lane. Just in case.
On the other hand, there's no reference to what bike he wa riding.. I guess no crash bar. That could have made a difference, maybe absorbing the impact and avoid the severance of the foot, but could have also tangled the bike inwards and into the wheels..
